TUESDAY
To Be confirmed - Weather dependent: Plogging
What is Plogging you ask? Plogging is a combination of jogging with picking up litter (merging the Swedish verbs plocka upp (pick up) and jogga (jog) gives the new Swedish verb plogga, from which the word plogging derives).[1] It started as an organized activity in Sweden around 2016 and spread to other countries in 2018, following increased concern about plastic pollution. (Wikipedia sited 13 October 2021)
So join us on Zoom at 2pm today for a Plog - although we will encourage you to walk. Bring your runners, a plastic bag, some sturdy gloves, maybe some tongs, and a device with headphones to connect to zoom. We will create breakout rooms so you can chat with your friends whilst you walk and collate a pic collage of all the litter we pick up on our travels. You can head on your own walking route near you, or to a near by park.
PLEASE NOTE: that if you are walking around the streets in your local neighbourhood PLEASE be SAFE at all times, especially when crossing roads whilst wearing headphones!

WEDNESDAY
Damper Making
Its the simplest yet most satisfying thing to cook over a camp fire... but we will do an oven version!
Make sure you have 300g of Self Raising Flour (your choice on the type), 50 g of chilled butter, a pinch of salt and 185ml of Milk (water is also a suitable - particularly if you are on camp. Milk does make it more scone like).
You will also need your toppings of choice for when it is done! Butter, Jam, honey are also good options.
If you are keen to make more than one and experiment with your flour types, you may also need some BiCarb Soda if the flour isn't self raising such as Spelt or Buckwheat flours (Buckwheat is an option for those Gluten Free students). We will discuss this version live!

THURSDAY
HOUSE DRAMA 2021!!!!
Get ready for the House Drama Short Film Festival!!!
Our remarkable Captains have been slogging away, editing all of the individual shots into a neat collection of short films for this years House Drama competition.
The package will be released next Thursday, to the students during P5 and 6, with the link available to our wider school community that afternoon.
We’re thrilled to welcome Emily Tomlins as our adjudicator for the festival. Emily is the Co-Artistic Director of Elbow Room, one of Melbourne’s leading independent theatre companies (http://www.elbowroomproductions.com/about.html)
The production will be released via email link and added to this page also.
Here is a little teaser of each performance:
Schofield: “The Second Voice” is a piece that explores the way the human mind copes with trauma and warps our vision of reality. Delving into the way we experience guilt, the piece follows our protagonist, Violet as she struggles with her own conscience after experiencing a horrific accident.
Lawrence: “Consumed and Confined” explores the concept of ‘consumerism’ by following the main protagonist, Audrey, through her journey in an illusionary prison of consumption. There, Audrey’s encounters with multiple prisoners gradually reveal the true nature of the consumer culture we are inevitably sucked into.
Singleton: “Unmasked” reveals how, in a world where everybody is isolated and forced into hiding, it’s finally time to unmask the reality of a broken life. Kai-lee has been hiding since before the mysterious disease came around, but now she must face her deepest fears. Will she be able to confront all that she’s kept hidden for so long or will she never remove her mask?
Taylor: “The Curse” entails a young girl who explores the woods, leading her to the discovery of a broken, old, cursed house. Her journey of tentative discovery will lead us to find out how, in darkness, light can be found.
The Tech and Drama captains have put in so much work to produce amazing performances, so please make note of the date and support your House!
